2nd Congress and Exhibition of Schematic Cave Art on the Iberian Peninsula
The 2nd Congress of Thematic Cave Art in the Iberian Peninsula, which was held from 5 to 8 May in Vélez Rubio, is complemented by a travelling exhibition whose panels and graphics have been created by Estudio Villanueva.
Further to the lectures, speeches, round tables and communications developed during the congress and held by prestigious and well-known specialists, one could visit the exhibition “Cave Art in the region of Vélez. World heritage.”
Until the end of May, the travelling exhibition can be seen in the ‘Fernando Palanques’ Library of Vélez Rubio. It consists of 20 panels which are divided into four thematic blocks.
The first block analyses the effect that the Unesco declaration of ‘World Heritage Site’ had upon the Cave Art in Spain. The second block examines the different researches carried out in the region and the third block is based on an analysis of Cave Art in Los Vélez.
The exhibition’s panels, that have been designed and created by Estudio Villanueva, study in depth the cave paintings and art of the Ambrosio Cave (palaeolithic), the Arte Levantino de Chiquita Treinta; the Lavaderos de Tello y Santonge; the Schematic Art in the Vélez region; Lázar, Queso and Maina, in Sierra María; Los Molinos I and II; Las Cuevas de los Letreros I, II and III; Las Colmenas; El Gabar, and Santonge y Tello.
After visiting Vélez Rubio, the exhibition will be exposed in the villages of Vélez Blanco, María and Chirivel.
